Our Handmade Chocolate Story
The creator and Master Chocolatier behind Celtig Cofiadwy, is Liss Morgan. Liss discovered a love of chocolate from a young age in her home country of Zimbabwe, where her first training was with her parents who had been making chocolate for most of her life. Jeanne and Eddie Morgan’s ethos had always been to learn how to make, and to create with only the most natural of ingredients.
Curious as to why chocolate differed on the continent she grew up in, her passion only grew as she left Africa to travel the world to taste, to learn, and eventually to create. From discovering how the ancient Mayans used cocoa, to how we enjoy it today, Liss has since studied under many chocolatiers learning how to master working with cocoa to create unforgettable chocolate.
Settling in Wales where the Morgan’s felt a special calling to the countryside and the culture which fit naturally with their ‘clean food’ ethos, chocolate from Celtig Cofiadwy is sold in the family ice cream shop, Hufenfa'r Castell, where you can meet Liss in person, or of course you can buy her chocolate online.
Each chocolate bar and truffle is hand crafted in view of the spectacular Harlech Castle, using the finest quality cocoa from across the globe- West Africa, Madagsacar, Peru, Ecuador, and many more - each one chosen for its unique taste.Liss’ uncompromising drive for quality and taste means you will never see palm oil or any artificial ingredients in Celtig Cofiadwy products, and she has set out to perfectly balance cocoa flavours for dark at 70%, milk 40% and white 38%
